Has anyone ever tried to put horse hair in a bead? I know that pottery is made with bits of horse hair. I thought about maybe making a bead with white, rolling in the hair like it was frit, and then encasing in clear?
Does anyone have any suggestions? It is in memory of a horse for a young girl.
Thank you for any help any one might have.

The horse hair with pottery is put on the glazed & fired pot that is pulled from the raku kiln while red hot, to leave a mark on the piece. The hair doesn't actually stay, it burns off. I don't know if it would mark the glass or not.
Have you thought of putting some in a hollow?

I thought about a hollow, but I have never made one! Do any of you skilled pros want to give me a price for a hollow BHB with the hair in it?
Thank you

If the hair is long enough (like tail hair), you could make a bead on a large mandrel and use the hair to make a braided bracelet for it.

Somewhere on here there is a thread on it!

I read, I did and it works, BUT!!!! YOU will not see the hair.. Only bubbles.
As Eileen said, pottery is is porous which allows the carbon left from the burning hair to be absorbed in the pottery. The glass is not porous and will not allow the carbon to adhere. You will see the carbon when you first apply, but as soon as you add the clear it will disappear. Without the clear it will wipe off.

Sage Creek Studio makes a nice bead with horsehair. Saw it on Etsy.

Thank you. I will look some more for ideas. I saw the bracelet that was braided out of the hair. I'm sure I could do that.
