I have been pretty much working with 6mm, 10mm, and 18mm rod since that is all I can get locally. I am looking at picking up some cases of Schott from Generations Glass because of their sale and free shipping. So what sizes of clear would be good to get? I mostly do pendants (implosions and hearts) and sculpture. I may do some beads from time to time, but not many. A lot of what I do involves making 18mm to 30mm marias so I am thinking I might want to get some larger rods to make it quicker.

If you were getting three to five cases of clear, what would you get?

Cheers,

The 6, 10 and 18mm do alot...not much else will make pendants quicker. 25mm and 30mm is huge like marble making or sculpture sizes you dont want to make pendants that large...those sizes take a good bit of heat and time to get moving, you might end up slower. I use the same as you for pendant making and the 25mm if I want to make marbles.

Does nobody else use 12.7 mm? That is my favored rod size.

That and 31 mm. I'd love to get some 40.

Hot damn, just posting on a glass forum is getting my blood going.

I'd get a two cases of 12, a case of 19, a case of 7 and a case of 38 mm.

The sizes I use the most are 5mm (for wrap & rake), 3mm (clear lines), 7mm (punties), 9mm (punties or handles), 12mm, 18mm, and 26mm.

Yes, free shipping and 10% off of the sale price on Schott Boro Artistic ending today. I am still trying to find out from them if yu get the 5 and 10 case discount as well. It doesn't figure it in the shopping cart and of course they are of today. When my order even with the discounts topped $780 I had to stop and am trying to readjust my wants with my needs and my checkbook.

I think the only one I might suggest adding is some 4mm, it's too small for punties (except for the lightest stuff) but it melts down nicely for encasing, laying lines, dots, etc.
