New torch not getting fuel
Hi all. Brand new to lampworking, just got my first torch set up. I connected everything, pressurized the lines, tested for leaks, and after confirming everything was good, sat down to start breaking some glass. I have a nortel mega minor, so I turned on the propane first to light it, but it wouldn't light with the striker, so I tried a lighter, still no luck. I shut off the fuel and started to turn the oxygen when I heard it hiss, so that's working. The line is showing 3.5 psi on fuel but I can't hear or feel anything coming out. I read that sometimes it takes a bit to bleed out the air but I opened the fuel all the way for a good minute or two. Plus, I would think even if there was air in the line it would still be pressurized too so I'd be able to detect something coming out. Any ideas or suggestions?

Got it. Pressure was too low for the flashback arrestor. Had to push it to nearly the nozzles max.

Your regulator is set on 3.5? I would turn it up a bit. I keep mine at 5-6, and adjust at the torch.

The max on the torch is 5, but I guess I was babying it a little too much. Like I said though, I'm brand new to this so it's all learning as I go. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.

The search function needs four characters so use * or ? to fill out the letter words in your hunting.
Read as much as you can and use the search to hunt up questions as they come to you. Put multi word questions in " quotes " or you will wind up with search results for each single word in your search term. |
Sometimes it is easier to google your search with your question and
"LE" or "Lampwork Etc" than to use the search feature here |
