I've been working with glass off and on for 2 yrs, and I can't find ANY silver metalic as a rod or stringer. I recently up grades from a HH to a mega minor torch, I've tried devardi black/silver with zero luck, how is it suppose to work? Also are there any glass to use as a stinger that just looks like its silver? I have some silver wire somewhere (if I can find it) but I know it wont give me the effect I'm looking for. Also is the ANY ivory that isnt so shocky its instant frit? Thanx for any answers

I found some examples

Several of the DH reducing glasses will give you what you want plus Effetre black metallic and maybe dark silver plum. The trick is in using a reducing flame, aka less oxy, more propane.

I believe at least one of the Effetres want an oxygenation flame. Double Helix Glassworks has some videos on reducing and a chart on the reducing look for the various colors.

You're so right Eileen, the dark silver plum wants an oxidizing flame.

I got a wide variety of chrome/silver effects from my DH reducing rods, the hard part for me is keeping it after they go through annealing

Thanks for the directions, like I said I just got my mixed gas torch, it seems I have a lot of research, and trial and error ahead of me, but the pure silver, what glass is that? I have a few types of double helix that I haven't played with yet, that pure silver on pink, what glass is that? I'm still at a loss as to what glass I need to buy??

Maybe you can ask the Etsy artist which glass they used? Sometimes in the item details they list what they made it with. Tell them how much you like their work and how that color is exactly what you've been looking for!

Triton, Helios and Aurae are my favorite reduction glasses (from Double Helix.) All can give a silvery sheen when gently reduced, and not over reduced. The sheen appears quickly. The Double Helix website has a lot of valuable information, including videos, that can help you learn to use their glass.

Late to the party. I love DH Iaso. It will do silver but quickly likes to go gold.

Best for silver, silver. Bella Donna Moody Blues ... just played with it the other week. Let it cool completely and run it through the cones on the dragons breath flame. Super shine, bright silver.

Tips on working their glasses on Arrow Springs site. Their glass doesn't behave or reduce like any of the DH glasses, IMO. Weirdness. But awesome too.

Yes! Moody Blue is by far the easiest metallic I've used, and comes out of the kiln just like it went in, so far
