What colors to mix to make Effetre "Earth?"

So, Earth is no longer available, and it's popping up on auction sites for more than I want to pay. Many of the "Cool Colors" are just mixes of existing colors, so does anybody have suggestions of what I should try to duplicate this one? I'm guessing petroleum green is one of the ingredients...

And, while I'm at it, are the "Avorio" colours just lapis and ivory?

KJohn 2016-04-05 1:18am

As far as the Avorio, I think they pretty much are combos. I made my own with dark lapis and ivory. My rod is not as pretty LOL but works well. I haven't tried the others.

Personally, I found Earth a bit of a disappointment. There was limited marbling or dual color. Mostly just for a different kind of blue but I wouldn't pay lots for it at all. I know how it gets when you get hooked on the idea of a color. Not sure what the closest blue would be, perhaps a Lauscha?

So what I hear you saying, Kristin, is that you're going to sell me your Earth, cheap, since it's no good anyway? :-)

sharpcanoe 2016-04-05 6:13am

That was smooth.... you smooth talking devil you..... Hope you find some cheap

KJohn 2016-04-05 6:19am

HAHAHA!

KJohn 2016-04-05 6:22am

I only had a few rods, but I wasn't making big beads at the time either.
Hmm, you might try CIM French Blue to mix with the Petroleum. It looks close to me.

I don't know if it possible to mix Earth, but if I was going to try it, my first attempt would be to loosely mix Turquoise or Dark Sky Blue with the lightest Cobalt.

Maybe mix Medium Cobalt Pastel 2/3 and Emerald Pastel 1/3? (216 Grass Green not Emerald)
Batches of Earth varied, some mottle a lot, some not as much.

It's one of my favorite colors.

any pictures of earth for comparison?

glvz 2016-04-05 6:42pm

I'm not familiar with emerald pastel but I think Lt. turquoise is close to the color I get from Earth-with a light cobalt color. I think pet. green might have the right reactions but would probably be too dark.

My last batch doesn't molt at all, was really bummed too. I wish they would make it again but with more green in it

Here are my test results for Earth. There are some pictures there.

Robin, pics for effetre, include the test paddle. It seems to be a mix of green and blue, although the last pic from Dragonjools website doesn't seem to show green. I found it difficult to get the mottling, but I was only doing small beads and it seems to shine in larger beads or sculpture.

That is lovely!

isaberg 2016-04-06 8:23am

Hmm. Petroleum green, or maybe mosaic green?

MelanieG 2016-04-06 9:48am

I don't think it has any green in it, but I could be wrong. If either of those two colours were involved, they would pretty much take over.

FosterFire 2016-04-06 10:29am

I would think maybe copper green and medium cobalt opaque. I use a neutral flame so my copper green stays green. If I have time to play over the weekend (stupid respiratory virus allowing) then I will post pix. I used to do a lot of mixing, so this looks like fun to me.

my guess is it is a mix of CIM french blue, effetre trans. cobalt, and effetre copper green

carolinesbeads 2016-04-23 3:18am

I would try some sort of green frit that might help with the mottling
