I'm hoping others will join in and show what they've been making lately. Everyone is welcome! I'll start us off.

This is a set with a white base, Molten Aura's Gold Ruby, rolled in some silver foil, and encased:

Oooo! Lovely!

I was just trying to figure out today the best way to make my new to me Hellcat up so can switch between oxycon and tanked, so hopefully will be able to contribute soon. (I decided to take it to the welding shop and get new hoses and information and help with connections)

Those are lovely! Great color

Jackson River Glass 2018-06-04 6:14pm

Eileen - Good luck with your set up! I only have oxy cons, so I'm not much help. Jealous that you have tanked too!

Thank you, Mina! This is a really great new color, so easy to use!

KJohn 2018-06-04 6:48pm

Susan, I didn''t know you could use foil with boro. Those look like fossil eggs, if they were pink LOL Very cool

Thank you! I love using silver foil/leaf with boro

Three Muses Glass 2018-06-05 9:48am

Those are lovely, Susan! The soft pink and old gold color of the silver go so well together! Have you tried the MA Amethyst? It's nice but not quite what I was expecting. Didn't get any of the gold pink.
This is the Amethyst.

My DH got rid of the welder that he used the oxygen with, and was going to give away his tank until I heard about it ;) I haven't really used it yet, but I want to try some marbles soon.

Jackson River Glass 2018-06-05 3:31pm

Oh wow, Rebecca!!! When I used the gold amethyst it was much lighter than that. Yours is gorgeous!!! I'll have to try again. Love love love the color combos! Thank you for sharing!

Eileeen, how lucky you are! My dream is liquid oxy, but I don't see that ever happening lol

Three Muses Glass 2018-06-05 4:15pm

Thanks Susan! I thought it was a bit light by itself too, that's over Parramore Siberia. Same principal as soft glass, layering a purple/violet over periwinkle. I was kinda surprised it worked.

Jackson River Glass 2018-06-05 5:37pm

ah that makes sense! I'm not very creative about layering like that. Thank you for the tip!

So pretty, Susan! I wish some of the experimentals would make it to full production. That would be one of them. But I'm still mourning the loss of some of them from 10 years ago. lol

These are Magpie's Crystal Blue Persuasion frit over different bases. Sea slyme for sure, maybe regular (if there is such a thing) Slyme, and I don't know what else....peacock chameleon maybe.

I love that blend (all of her blends, really!), and those beads are gorgeous!!!

Three Muses Glass 2018-06-14 3:26pm

Thanks! Made some more Luna Moth wings today. The top one is a version of Slyme that I got a long time ago from TAG. I wish I had a bunch more, the newer versions just scuzz something awful for me. The other 2 are GA green shades.

Susan, those are beatiful pairs! Love that delicious pink.
Rebecca, love the texture of those wings. The blue beads are gorgeous

Edit: I didn't mean to leave out Dave's tiny elephant and other critters. Really shows the fun you can have with sculpting. Great stuff

MagpieGlass 2018-06-15 6:00am

Rebecca ... wow ... love he Luna Moth Wings (I've been attempting them in soft and am still horribly unhappy with my results).

And you made Crystal Blue sing beautiful songs. Love the blue bead set.

Here's a more recent set from me.

Playing with Hot Flash Frit (Angela Kane) secret blend (she never released it) called Magpie Magic!!

Jackson River Glass 2018-06-15 11:46am

Thanks, Kristin! Pull out that boro and join us!!

Love those, Laura! That is so pretty, even though you are totally teasing us. Maybe we can convince her to release that one :)

KJohn 2018-06-15 3:07pm

Susan, i would love it. I whacked one of my oxycons out of commission. I still need to figure out how to take it apart and take a pic for the repair guy, it might be something I can do myself. So I'm down to one, not sure it is enough for boro, although Rachel Oxton uses the same setup as I currently have and does magic, of course. So I might not have an excuse after all.
I think its the sort of thing where you don't know where to start so you just start melting? LOL Maybe this weekend.

Laura, I swear, magpies and glitter, just destiny! Lovely shinies.

KA 2018-06-15 4:12pm

All the beads look awesome. I can never seem to get the bead release to stay intact while working boro.

Jackson River Glass 2018-06-15 4:22pm

Sorry to hear about your oxy con, Kristin. My offer is always there, if you need to zip over and work here.

Thank you, Dave. Have you tried Fusion? I'd be happy to send you a little to try if you'd like.

Three Muses Glass 2018-06-17 8:38am

Thanks Kristin and Laura. Yes, Kristin, come to the dark side... Good luck with the oxycon! Hope you can fix it.

Pretty beads, Laura! How cool to use a frit named after your biz. I need to get out more and check on some of her frit.

KA, I agree with Susan. Fusion/FPI is awesome. Only super heat where your footprint will go, otherwise the part that was heated and then cooled will sometimes crack when you marver or use a roller.

I have exactly this problem also! I have many beads that I cannot get off the mandrel either.

KJohn 2018-06-17 9:54am

thank you so much, Susan

I just finished 10 hours of torching last night and still not caught up on my customs. Can we say 'overcommitted' ? LOL Maybe next week......Post some more pretties!

Thanks but I bought this a few years ago and everyone raved about it. Specifically designed for boro so I came to the conclusion I am more of a pendant type guy.

MagpieGlass 2018-06-19 6:25am

I've tried (since starting in 2008):

Dirty Louies
BOM (Bucket of Mud ... no longer produced)
Super Blue Sludge (no longer produced)
ABR release
FosterFire Smooth and Tuff
Tuffy's (which everyone was raving about)
Super Blue Ultra (replaced the previous version ... one ingredient became unavailable)
And final Fusion that Susan gifted me.

The original Super Blue was the best for me for Boro. Ultra is designed to release easy once cool and I end up with anything silver glass that you need to cool and strike or cool and reduce ... the darn release lets loose.

Fusion has been the best ... though still not perfect for beads.

Playing with testing color recipes from others. First up a Sandy Seeman recipe.

I call it Desert Camo

KA 2018-06-24 5:27am

Those are cool Laura!

I am fairly ignorant about beads. Do you always use a separate mandrel for each bead or can you make more than one bead on a single mandrel?

MagpieGlass 2018-06-25 8:50am

You could make multiple to a mandrel. Susan at Jackson River does that with her disk beads ... load the mandrel up.

Since I mostly work on 1/16" and have to be careful to keep the mandrel out of the flame to keep from burning through. I happily make one bead to a mandrel.

alcyon 2018-06-25 12:01pm

I nearly always make many beads (5-9 or so) in a single mandrel. These are relatively simple, speedy beads. Just be careful not to hit them with flame after they are done, as they have begun to cool and might crack. I very seldom have cracking problems, although I use extra caution with boro containing a lot of metal (Amazon Night, Aurora, etc).
Making multiples like this allows me to make a small set of similar sizes easily and quickly.

Three Muses Glass 2018-06-25 4:49pm

Really nice, Laura! Kinda neutral but in NO way boring.

The only beads I make more than one to a mandrel (mostly) are disc beads, then it's 5 tops. I don't know what it is but I have cracking problems if I try to push it.

Any other ideas for tricolor rods?

Three Muses Glass 2018-07-02 2:51pm

Dave, you could wigwag them for long pendants or earrings. I wigwag them for pen shafts and leaves. 3 and 5 from the top are Momka multi rods but I don't know which ones.

Looking for other applications for Momka’s tricolor rods I did this millefiori six pack... back to the drawing board I guess. Maybe I will try and back a marble with it.
