A Complete Guide for Creating Bell Flowers with the Carlo Dona Bell Flower Press
I was happy to have the whole day to myself today to finish this up.
I have had many, many requests for instruction on how to use the Carlo Dona line of Bell Flower presses. This tutorial will show how I use the press. In addition to embellishment and finishing techniques, it will also have complete step by step directions on how to make a flower using the necessary tools. It will show the handling of the wire for a beautifully finished piece. It will also explain how to make bell flowers more interesting by adding additional designs onto the flower itself. This is an eighteen page tutorial. Here is the link. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1540455...-creating-bell |
Great info! Thanks for this!

Thanks Ellen:) You are very welcome.

Hi Cynthia,
Will the press work with boro? If so, is the tut applicable for boro users as well? Thanks! |
I have never tried the presses with boro although the process would be the same. Someone in the bell flower pictures thread asked, but no one has responded yet.
Sorry I can't help. Cynthia |
Hopefully I will someday own this tool and need this tutorial! :)
|
Oh, I thought I had responded to the press with boro questions, sorry. Boro is a lot stiffer, but the press works.
|
Thanks Hannah. I guess I missed it.
|
Whoops, no, I meant that differently, Cynthia. I meant it as "wow, I'm really dropping the ball lately. I keep thinking I'm getting stuff done, but then realize I haven't." You didn't miss a thing.

WooHoo great info. Thanks much :-)

Great Tutorial! I finally got to play around with it and now I can't stop making bell flowers. I have made them before the tutorial, but with all this extra tips you have in your tut sure made a difference. My bell flowers look so much better now...Thanks Cynthia!

OHHHH NOOOOO! Well that just sucks! How long will it take?
|
Tell me about it, plus our currency value went way down so it will cost me a lot more but it is what it is I suppose. All good things come to those who wait.....so I am waiting.
|
I just checked Ebay on the off, off, off chance someone was selling one on there. No luck!
|
I want a specific size so I will have to wait.
|
Thanks Cynthia. Great tutorial. Just got my 14mm & 16mm presses. Can't wait to play ... kiln is warming up. Took a course from Leah Fairbanks back in June on how to use this press, but had decided the presses were too expensive so wasn't going to purchase, but then I couldn't resist. I'm a bit of a tool-aholic and tutorial-aholic (LOL), plus I just love these little flowers. Thanks for sharing.
|
Just bought your tutorial, thanks Cynthia it is great. I only had to wait 3 months  for my press, hopefully it arrives before I leave the States on Tuesday.
