Sphere with gold flecks in oil

A friend of mine has a sphere with gold flecks in oil - acts like a snow globe. Shake it and the gold goes floating around.

She was showing me some of her paperweights and she picked up the sphere and found that it was leaking. It doesn't have a plug. It looks like there was a small hole that they used to put the contents in and then used something else to seal it.

The leak does appear to be coming from the seal area. It doesn't look like there are any cracks.

Any ideas on what might have been used to seal it and if it is repairable?

Thanks!

Could be an epoxy or silicon.
Repair is likly using a dental pick or small drill to remove the plug and replace with a dab or new material.
Much like you would patch a fish tank or a chip in the car window.

The water or oil may make finding the right epoxy or silicon more difficult most work better then the glue surface is clean and dry.

I'd us 330 2-part epoxy! Dries clear as glass and is strong! I use it when making my tiny kaleidoscopes! ;)
