Is my oxycon gone?

Okay, I just bought a oxycon with under 500 hours on it. It was advertised as refurbished and has a 6 month warranty.

I just got it the other day and it was working fine. Used it for 2 hours today and took a break for 15 minutes. Went back and turned it on and it keeps beeping and flashing the "requires servicing" light at me. Is this servicing something I do or is my oxycon a dud?

Thanks!
Karen

If you are going to go back to using an ox con within a couple of hours, always leave your oxygen knob open on your torch when you shut your torch and concentrator off.

There can be enough back pressure still in the concentrator to cause the circuit breaker to pop when you turn in back on in an hour or so. This back pressure is more than the internal compressor can overcome and it doesn't start turning. The locked compressor will pop the breaker within a few seconds.

Leaving the oxygen knob open on the torch relieves this back pressure within a few minutes.

Thanks Bill!!

I appreciate your suggestion! :)

If you just take a 15 minute break you don't really have to turn it off. Keep the oxy open at the torch as Bill already has recommended and just keep the oxycon running. Propane should be turned off of course!
These machines are made for running 24/7.

I agree with others... Leave oxycon running when taking break... Leave oxy valve on torch open, after shutting off fuel...
