'MLK-Weekend Glass Jam'
Jan. 17-18, 2015 ---- Playing with Fire! - Rockland, Maine Starting at 9am 'til we drop on Saturday night, then we do it again on Sunday. :-D Come for just one day, or all days. $40/day = torch time, friends, food, networking, sharing of new techniques/products, door prizes, and whatever else you can think of! We have eleven torch stations and a variety of torches. Torching, sharing, networking... Bring techniques, questions, show and tell... Bring your latest book/magazine, new glass... to share... request a demo, do a demo... if we're 11+ we take turns at the torch throughout the day/night... we do, we learn, we watch, we visit, we have a great time! It's always a friendly mix of veterans and newbies. Any level of glass working experience welcome... and a good time with all! Bring your flameworking glasses, and any glass or tools that you'll want to work with. We have studio tools that you're welcome to use. Bring your own torch if you wish (if you have quick-connects; if not, let us know, and we can probably accommodate). Bring questions and techniques to share. ~~ And if you'd like: bring something/anything to add to the door-prize pile. :) POT LUCK, both days! ...please, and thank you! Bring your favorite dishes to share! We'll make some sort of soup or chili! We'll provide coffee, teas, water (we have a water cooler, please bring your refillable water bottle, thank you!) We have a gas grill on the deck, and a kitchen with range and microwave for cooking and reheating. Get the ball rolling, and post your RSVPs (and your pot luck contribution plans) here in this thread! Please RSVP here in this thread… or hotglass@midcoast.com or 207-594-7805 *RSVPs most appreciated, but if you find that you can make it at the last minute, please do.* Accommodations: The Old Granite Inn , just a few doors down the street, offers a year-round Playing with Fire! rate to our students/guests----(room-shares may be coordinated here in this thread, or by PM too.) I'm definitely in! See you all on Saturday am...with food and glass and goodies. Are we doing a prize exchange like at past jams or a Yankee swap? I will look in my stash of goodies...
|
I am "very possibly tentative." Whatever that means. My preliminary concern was to see if any of my co-workers had requested anywhere close to that weekend off-they haven't. Heck, I might request that entire week off! :-)
Now if the weather doesn't get crazy it's a go. Duane |
I am hoping to come up for sunday!!

Kristi- I reserved a room with twin beds at OGI today. It was kinda funny cuz Ed asked if I was sure because Deb already reserved the room! I told him they'd filled that suite and I needed another one.
We're good to go. Sue |
I am bringing another friend named Ed. He is an engineer, but I still like him.... His wife is happy to get rid of him for the weekend so she can organize her beads.

Well, hello all! :waving:
I started this post up last week, and have had a bunch of life get in the way in the interim, so today is the first I'm looking here since posting. Glad to see you're all getting along so well! Carry on! Looking forward to seeing everyone! PS. Pam, have you warned Ed-the-engineer about this gang? I doubt that even an engineer will be prepared. |
Just a week away! Looking forward to some socializing as I haven't seen most of you since summer (sighs....) Not sure what I'm bringing for food or prizes yet. I better get on that soon. Will definitely bring a bottle of wine or three!

Confirming: 2 Fabric Rod Carriers for 104 as my contribution to the door prizes. I finished them tonight!
This door prize program has kinda sorta grown over time and the goodies are always luscious but folks should know that they do not have to contribute. It just started out and it has grown because of the giving nature of lampworkers. Donations are NOT mandatory... I can't wait for Saturday. Sue |
Is it Saturday yet?

This sounds like a lot of fun. Really really happy i came back to this site it been awhile. I am going to try really hard to make it on Saturday, and hopefully my brother will too. Much appreciation for setting this event up. I have been secluded in my shed for to long. Its definitely time to meet some new people and melt some glass.

Just to let you/everyone know:: we are at 'full+' for both days, so we might be doing some station sharing! We're looking forward to meeting you! Where are you traveling from, and will you be bringing your own torch? We're trying to plan and arrange spaces. It looks like the storm will hold off until much later on Sunday night, so, hopefully, no worries there. |

No worries im more than fine with sharing. I am super excited just to check out your shop and meet some new people. I definitely would be willing to bring my torch it is a beth bravo. If you have the space it would be awesome. I also have y's so it would just need B fitting oxygen and propane lines. Ill bring it anyways just in case. I am also coming from MA and its like a 3 hour drive. Thank you so much for setting this up i am really excited to meet you all. |
I am bringing 2 batches of Betty Crocker Gluten Free Brownies. Virginia, the box says it was made in a gluten free environment... one batch has pecans and the other doesn't. I hope they're edible!
I think I'll order a gluten free pizza around lunchtime to contribute to the food stores. I KNOW we have good cooks coming! Nobody ever goes away hungry! Lucas- looking forward to meeting you. Don't listen to a thing Pam says about me! :waving: See everyone in the morning! Can't wait. Sue |
