annealing temps.
 

I see a lot of posts on annealing times, but I'm trying to find annealing temps ( garage ) for ask, Reichenbach,gaffer and zimmerman? any idea's out there?

I generally cook my 104 beads at 955 degrees F for several hours, then turn off the kiln and let it cool down by itself. Works pretty well.

I garage my 104 at 920f until I am done for the day then let it sit there for an hour before ramping down to something like 820f for a soak for another hour.

I have forgotten the rest of my schedule but it is something like a 3 hour ramp down to soak at 720f for yet another hour.

Finally a 3 ramp down to room temp at 90f and off.

I know it's pretty conservative but I have a couple of fist-fulls of unknown glass that I picked up when I just started out as well a some Devardi that can be persnickety and I usually have to stop torching because I need to sleep so I push the program to stop the "garage temp" and go on with the rest of the schedule and then go to bed so the extra time isn't an issue for me.

Robin, you must have a brick kiln that retains heat very well?

I use a conservative schedule similar to Phill's. I've found that several combinations of glass that others find to be incompatible (such as CIM opals encased) work just fine for me. My theory is that it's because of the conservative schedule.

Phill, I think I may modify my schedule to resemble yours and see if I can get some more color out of some of the more persnickety DH rods.
