Torch Question

The oxygen knob on my Nortel Minor torch won’t let me turn it far enough to let in as much oxygen pressure that I have. I have two 5ml OxyContin connected to each other and my torch. I know my green oxygen knob should be able to let in more oxy that I have.

Call Nortel and ask them if they have advice. You may need to send it in for repair if this is new. Or it might just be jammed and need some hard twisting to free it up. Is it a new issue on a torch you have had for a while, or a new to you torch? Minors are not particularly strong torches to start.

Trouble is that all the brass in torch valves is really really soft and we can ruin a sealing surface all too easily by over-tightening without even knowing it.
Same with the threading on the valve stem that pushes the valve closed.

ETA: Do you have a check valve or flashback arrestor on that oxygen line?
They can get sticky or clogged and cause a constriction on the flow also.

Thank you for the advice. The torch is a couple years old and I never noticed a problem when I had a 5ml. Concentrator. I’ll call Nortel.
