Probably okay for smallish work, but remember, the bigger the work, the more heat generated. After applying glass to a gather of about 1 1/2", I can't work without a sleeve. What temp does poly, or for that matter, aluminum begin to soften?

You might be able to find steel swivel casters for rolling chairs. One of mine just has large steel washers set at a ninety degree angle from each other. It works just fine.
