Press Questions

Rather than clog the press game thread with my questions I started a new thread here. I hope that's ok.

So, I was lucky enough to receive the zoozii medium lentil press to try and I'm sort of getting it. I love the look of lentils and I really want to buy a press of my own, probably a zoozii lentil trio. My question is, does anyone have the slim lentil small trio? Does anyone have photos of what the finished beads look like, or feedback about ease of use, etc.?

Thanks!

I have the large lentil and I love it, you can do a lot with the large surface to decorate it's 1 1/2"

I have the straight sided lentil trio and love it. I'm making larger beads than I used to, so I use the largest cavity more often. Someone taught me that the best way to make the lentil pressed beads is to start with a more "football" shape so the glass distributes correctly.

How about the bavarian star press. How would you start it and get the nice points?

Anyone know where one can find a bead roller in this shape, preferably in graduated sizes, graphite perhaps? Seems to me it would be of great and lasting intrinsic social redeeming value.

When you get a new press, what is your preferred way to learn to use it?

Where can I get a mask bead?

That looks like a bicone....The Cattwalk bicone shaper is what I'm thinking of getting just for that sort of shape. I could be wrong. Anyone have that Cattwalk shaper and can give advice would be helpful to THIS newbie.

I shape all my bicones by hand.

How exactly do you shape your beads by hand?

Rolling them on a marver paddle or anything that will shape the molten glass.

A press is usually made of brass and allows us to shape glass into uniform shapes. Lentils are very popular. Zooziis, Cattwalk, and Bavarian Beads are the brands I know of.

What should be the first one to buy? Is it important to go for an expensive one?
