Really easy horizontal hole hearts

Here is the way I make VERTICAL hole hearts. It is really really easy and can also be used to make cones.
Someone probably posted this method somewhere but I discovered it on my on...so our minds may have been "in sinc"

1. Wind on a FAT football glass shape.

2. Heat the blob until it is nice and glowing and there is movement in the glass. Turn your mandrel completely vertical so that the majority will flow towards the bottom. It is best to do this by placing the tip of the mandrel on a surface. if you air shape it you might get more on one side or the other.

3. Slowly heat the cone on one side and use your graphite paddle to flatten it.

4.Do this to the other side. You may want to use your paddle squeeze but mine is never close at hand when I do this and I find the graphite really easy.

5. Now you have a "cone shape" that is flat on back and front.

6. Heat the center of the heart close to the mandrel

7. Use a pick or some other tool to gently push the glass towards the center and down. Then make a little crease down the middle extending from the point you originally pushed. Do this on both sides

8. If your tip is too sharp, add a little round of glass and gently melt it in.

OUILA!! You did it. You can now "polish it" out and make sure you have no chill marks...etc...
Decorate to your "heart"s content.

Here are a couple of beads I made with this method. I forgot to add the round to the tip but I think I can sand them smooth. Please excuse the bead poop..I haven't cleaned them yet

I hope this helps someone.

So this is not a horizontal hole but a vertical hole. Am I right?

Ace tutorial! Thanks! I'm trying to make small mandrel heart beads (with the mandrel top to bottom of the heart). And I'd like to press the whole heart flat. Is that possible or will it likely be distorted? I need to keep the same measurements though. I checked a similar LoriGreenberg blog article (tutorial), but I don't know if I can possibly manage the process.
