FNQ as in Far North Queensland?
I strapped my hot head to an "L" bracket that's clamped to the desktop. Then I grabbed the whole assembly and bent the bracket until I was happy with the angle of the flame. I guess it's about 45 degrees pointing away from me. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...a/stash001.jpg You can see it in the bottom of this pic. |
That looks pretty much like mine, Nicole. If you're using the Mapp/Pro or Propane 1 lb. canisters, the "L" bracket and hose clamp, it will naturally go to that angle.

Put it at an angle that is comfortable for you to work.... There is no ideal angle other than what is best for you....
The 'L" bracket every body is so enamored with can be bent to any angle that works.... May want to go here and look at Hot Head Brackets.... http://www.artglassanswers.com/forum...211fef0902eb37 Dale |
Have a person with a steady hand, hold your torch at different angles in front of you, while you determine what feels the most comfortable. My assistant held my torch while it was lit. They can then hold it until you can make some measurements. I made some blocks to adjust the heigth. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome.
