Bent mandrels and cleaning wires tip

If you are like me, inevitably your gonna have bent mandrels and cleaning wires for your torch/
I have been straightening mine with the following method, it works like a charm..
1. Roll your wires or mandrels across a smooth cement floor. If they don't roll freely, your not gonna be happy with them at the torch.
2. Take one or two of them, lay next to each other.. (I usually like to do them one at a time.
3. Take a steel block, I have a 4"x4" for metal work. Roll this across the wires, I usually put my weight into the the block while I roll the block across the wires.
4. Work your way up and down the wires until they roll freely.
I have straigtened wires I never thought could be saved by this method...

I tried it a while back but didn't get great results, but thanks to you, I realize I wasn't pushing down, so thank you!

Eileen, I get down on the floor and really put some oomp into it.. They will really flop around until you get the wonky end worked down. I hate bent mandrels .. Then I tried my cleaning wires, it worked like a charm

Works on sterling, copper and brass wire, also. It's amazing.

I use a hammer on the garage floor to straighten out mine. Just keep rolling the mandrel while your tapping the part that is bent. It's always worked for me.

Good luck, Jack
