Jelly Fish

Here is a thread to post pictures only of your work.
Please feel free to post your Jellyfish pictures here.
This thread is for inspiration only, mentioning the
colors you used is ok, but this is not a tutorial,
this is an album of Jellyfish.
Thank you.

china white, with blue exotic frit on cap.

and another one . . keeping it blue :) And I did quite some more, but I don't want to hog/flood this thread. Hope you like them :)

Mary K 2014-01-08 6:58am

I do like them Bernhard, & I wouldn't mind a flood of these at all. I especially like
the one in post #6. When next I make jellyfish I am going to try to make some really small one's, mine have gotten sort of large. But right now I am trying to build my stock for spring shows and mainly working floral and starfish. Jellyfish are really fun to make, are they not?

Celestial B 2014-01-08 6:53pm

Bernhard. I like the #6 post as well. The black backing shape reminds me of skate or shark egg cases.

Onekura 2014-01-08 9:58pm

Mary, you have hooked me on jelly fish. It is fun to make them, but it takes me a long time to do one (probably an hour). I tried working hotter, but then I loose control. Had some mishapps too, like fuming the tentacles with gold and clear dots . . . don't do it! You could not see them afterwards when cold. The fumed background was a success, I think - it changes colour as you move it in the light and gives off a great sparkle.
And with the rough backing I am trying to create a kind of reef/cave surounding that frames the jelly fish - and the hole blends in nicely too.

Fourpawsglass: I love your colour and the tentacles are just great - looks like air only - magic!

Castaway: Those tentacles look so soft and light blue amber purple works so great. Have to try this too . . :) It almost looks like a light under the cap - illuminated

Nice jellies Jonny B. Great colours. What did you use in the first ones?

I just show my latest. It has a fumed background and always looks different, depending on how you hold it in the light. That's why I posted 4 pictures of the same jelly fish.

Celestial B 2014-01-10 5:15pm

Sweet Bernhard. What color are the texture parts?

Hi Celestial - I am sorry I don't know. It was a short (unlabeled). Some reactive blue. TThe rod looked dark blue, almost a cobalt, but it had some silver coating where I burned it off before and I thought it might be cool.

Looking at it I would say it is either blue moon, black lightning, amazon night or aquatic carnival. You can get effects similar to those with those type of colors. Really nice Berhnard, I made a little jellyfish today myself, This one is tiny, very cute. I need to get some pictures to post, I have been working like mad and too tired at end of day.

Bernhard, there are quite a few creatures keeping that jelly at bay! AARRRR!

Jonny B 2014-01-11 6:29am

Thanks Onekura, The top three were amazon night, the one on the left had dragons eye for the inner tentacles. The one under it was caramel with dap frit, and the marble was caramel cap and I don't for the life of me remember what I used for the tentacles, lol.

Very nice Bernhard. Those are some of the best you have done I think.
Do I see a little Jackpot in the tentacles? I bet those are just amazing to hold in your hand in the sunlight.

Hi fellows,

I just got to say that this is the the tut I have been always looking for since I started this path a couple years ago. I still consider myself a rookie in the lampworking business, I have not been constant due to several obstables in my life but this Tut has inspired me to light up my torch (and also my heart) again after maybe six months without any productive time behind it.

My first jellyfish pendant turned out pretty by the way. I´ll be posting a few pictures of it and of some others I´m planning to do.

Thanks!

Hello Afro 1621 this is NOT a tut thread, this one is only for inspiration. If you want a tut on jellyfish this is the thread you want: http://lampworketc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=243718
And YES lets see some pictures!

Onekura 2014-01-18 3:42pm

and that tut is awesome - I learned my jellies from that tut - thank you all, especially Mary :)

just more of the same. Am I hogging this thread and you all think, omg - not another one? Or have you all stopped making jellies? Anyways, I am still having heaps of fun making them :)

Mary K 2014-01-21 7:17am

Please keep hogging the thread Bernhard, it's ok with me! Sorry I have not been keeping up with posting any pictures, I've just been way too busy lately. I have not stopped making Jellies, I am just getting my stock rounded out after last years sales, had 2 big gallery orders, and now currently making hearts, turtles and starfish, but also need to make jellyfish. I want to be ready for spring shows, and will not be able to torch for a bit soon as we are planning on some remodeling on the house, getting all new floors, carpets and linoleum etc, been working on picking all that out, what a chore but fun. Going to be a big hassel removing everything from each room for new carpet.......not looking forward to that, just the end result. So thanks for keeping this alive while I am working on all this.
Love that blue bail by the way and really love where you are going with these.

Mary K 2014-01-24 7:49am

Yes indeed that is incredible Bernhard, just beautiful. So pretty in the sun.
