Where can I buy big pieces of graphite?
I'm looking for a reasonable price, the places I've investigated are charging almost the same as it would cost to use stainless steel... and quite frankly if not for the weight issue I'd rather use stainless. It doesn't chip, crack pit or deterioriate. Of course a plate of stainless the size I want would weigh close to a hundred pounds. Not real handy to lug around.
So does anyone know a good graphite supplier who isn't charging an arm and a leg for a simple flat slab of graphite?? |
Arrow Springs used to sell bags of graphite scraps....some were quite large. I cut mine with a bandsaw into different shapes for glass pokers. Call AS and ask if they still sell the graphite and perhaps you can request a large piece. Good luck! K-

At times you can find EDM graphite from larger industrial shops.
eBay often has scrap or industrial surplus. A piece of stainless around 100lbs is fairly large, what are you making? |
This is an eight year old thread.

Yeah, I have a 2' x 2' x 2" slab o' graphite now. Handy dandy!
|
What's going on? I saw someone else asked about a big ol' slab-o-graphite in another thread. Is there some special use?
