Flowers

Here is a thread to post pictures only of your work.
Please feel free to post your floral pendants and marbles pictures here.
This thread is for inspiration only, mentioning the
colors you used is ok, but this is not a tutorial,
this is an album of Floral compressions or implosions.
Thank you.

Mary, your work is stunning. This one is nothing short of perfect.

Three Muses Glass 2013-12-22 10:15am

Beautiful work Mary.
This is probably my favorite flower, reminds me of a carnation. It's china white but I don't remember what the top color was. Possibly turbo cobalt?

Mary, thanks for starting these threads. Beautiful flower!

Mary K 2013-12-22 11:25am

Dave you are very welcome! Nothing inspires me more than seeing what other people are working on, so I very much appreciate any posts.
Rebecca lovely marble! Thanks for sharing.

Really nice flowers Three Muses and MaryK!

Here is a new one, black, crayon orange and white encased with a light cobalt.

Really nice marble there Will, lovely shape to the petals and staymens
Here's another floral from me.

Onekura 2013-12-26 11:17pm

Oh, so beautiful Mary and that blue in the petals is sooooo nice. But I can't figuere out how you did the background. Is it an implosion also? Just wow . .

Mary K 2013-12-27 7:21am

I know nothing.

Careful. Way too much process there. The big meanies might decide this is a t....tu... tut... ...no. I can't say the word.

Ahh Chris stirring up the pot. :)
I am hoping that things settle down about this issue.

vira 2013-12-29 3:08pm

My last flower. Bit wonky, need to practice!

Mary K 2013-12-29 8:10pm

Quite lovely Vira.

istandalone24/7 2013-12-31 7:08am

what is the sudden hair across the mods ass about "what is a tut and what isn't"?

what is the big fing deal? this place is getting more lame (le in general, not the boro room) by the day.

but, maryk, if you want a green frit that is more olive, get GA chartuesse or olive ;)

Mary K 2013-12-31 7:45am

While I do not share your opinion that LE is "getting more lame" I also have some angst
about the separation and dilution of the boro room threads by type. I don't feel like it is an improvement and wish it was like it was before.
That aside, I love LE, it is my connection with other artists in a field that has few flowers, so to speak.
I checked a few supplier sites and found no frit in those colors - olive and chartrusse.
I have some olive cane, it is somewhat bubblie, not my favorite because of that issue.
I am always on the lookout for greens. My speciality is floral work, so I look for colors that work for that.

Just so you know, that was only a display of stirring the pot. It was not a tutorial.

edit: For the record I don't have a problem with the change, though I do have a problem with the way it was handled. I also mock the ongoing snark because I think it's silly.

I recognize that change is difficult for some people, and it certainly could have been handled better by staff who I'm sure were operating with the best of intentions. That being said, those of us with lingering bruises on their psyches need to get over the upset, and the staff could probably be a little bit more sensitive. Sometimes a thread turns into a "how to". I don't think it's necessarily appropriate to move it unilaterally until the conversation has reached an ebb point, though, unless the topic is explicitly a tutorial from the get-go. <shrug>

Love you guys lots but this is pushing my sarcasm button big time ;)

Mary K 2013-12-31 5:03pm

Hey Chris, why not start a tutorial on how to stir the pot?
I'll contribute if you do! I'll be looking for your thread soon
in the tut room.

Bunyip 2013-12-31 5:12pm

haha awesome idea.

If only I had a crucible kiln ;)

And it better be in the tutorial room too.

:p

Onekura 2013-12-31 7:39pm

You guys are totally off topic. This is supposed to be about flowers.
I think we need a "gossip" thread for ongoing concerns - might actually be fun . . :)

Is anyone else doing the black and white marble challenge on FB? I would love peoples thoughts on which combo looks best. I'm not getting much feedback, need help.

Mary K 2014-01-08 1:49pm

Vira I like the 5th one, or second from end, the best. Can you post a link to the marble challenge on FB? I would love to see it.
BTW they are all stunning, so it is hard to choose. Nice work there.

vira 2014-01-08 2:39pm

http://www.facebook.com/groups/commu...ref=ts&fref=ts hope this works.

Will.T 2014-01-08 7:31pm

Can you post some bigger pictures? Hard to see...they all look really good from what I can tell though. I think I like the fourth from the left. I really want to see what's going on in the second from left.

torchgirl 2014-01-08 9:05pm

Vira,
Interesting challenging. I like the 3rd one from the left and the last one on the far right, they have the most contrast. Nice work!

There you go, sorry if this is a huge thread hijack.

Onekura 2014-01-08 10:07pm

WOW - so much better!!!!! First off, I totally love them all. If I had to pick favourites, I would say - top middle awesome, my first pick - second would be top left or bottom middle (cant decide) both so pretty - next would be top right. All your marbles look so clean! How did you manage that white without ANY bubbles????? Great work and thank you for showing it - especially in big!!

Will.T 2014-01-08 10:10pm

What kind of feedback are you looking for? They are all very beautiful. If I absolutely had to pick one I guess it would be the last one. I really like them all but for different reasons! Very nice work.
