baroque shaping tool
Has anyone used this tool from Arrow Springs. Looks good but I would to know how it is before ordering?

Can you include a link...I've not used it but now I'm curious, since the Baroque period is my favorite. And smiling. That's my favorite!

I love the concept of it -- but, I find it very difficult to use!:-$
And although I make big beads often, the size of this tool are pretty HUGE. I think it would be a great tool, if smaller in scale. JMTC! Lea |
Thanks so much Lea. I make smaller beads and It is wonderful to know that. Now will just save for another of the bead rollers!! Which is your favorite.

about 1/2 way down

I use it and will agree, the beads made from it are huge...even if you use the smaller of the two sides. I didn't find it that difficult to use but find the size alone limits the uses.
Here's the only pic I have so far...it's the two beads on the left, bottom row. |
I have one & also find it very difficult to use. I agree that it makes huge beads.
I am not happy with the tool. |
I used it tonight, beads in kiln. I loved it. I made some plain, and then placed dots along the grooves in the bead.
|
I also found it hard to use. CGBeads now has a beadroller in a very similar shape that I think might work better for me

I bought the Ornate Combo Tool from Pegasus and I just love it!!

Are the rollers from Pegasus really $85?
|
Just thought I'd put the current price of our bead shapers in here. I use http://www.xe.com/ucc/ to work out the exchange rate from pounds to dollars. Currently it works out at $74 plus shipping. I will be halving the shipping cost to the US from £5 to £2.50 this week too. Hope that helps! Thanks Ave for your kind comment!

I find the CG rollers were difficult to use, too. You're not really rolling, more like pressing. Takes practice, I kinda got it now. The baroque tool looks like it would be even more difficult, because since there are no "sides", you'd really have to roll it and get just the right touch. I'm sure once you mastered it, it would be great! How big are the beads?

I have the Pegasus baroque and I love it. I did not find it difficult to use, but sometime would get a little additional glass on past the bead shape onto the mandrel. I found that if I heat it up and with a razor made a cut into the glass around the mandrel, that when it came to cleaning, it just popped off.
How I approach the roller depends on what kind of bead I am making. Sometimes I first get the length of glass and get the ends in place and sometimes I get the middle to size and then add the ends...all depends on what bead design I am making. I originally had the one from Arrow Springs and loved it...hoping someone would make a smaller version. I was happy to see they did...the design has so many possibilities. |
