Eye laser operation

Hello,
My eyes must be operated (with laser, beacause of myopia)
There you have to wear sunglasses for 6-12 months after the operation.
How can I work with flames after the operation?
Have anyone did this eye laser operation?
I will ask the doctor also, but lampworking is unknown in my country and it is hard to explain it to anyone.
Thanks

Are you to wear sunglasses even inside, or just outside, for 6-12 months?
If you work with soft glass, take your didymiums in, and explain that they are for reducing the soda flare off the glass. (Trusting you work with didymiums.) Explain that you can still see the flame, but the flare is filtered. Ask what he advises.

If you work with borosilicate, I am not sure what to tell him.

Hi Heni.

The need for sunglasses for six to twelve months causes me a lot of concern.

I could understand six to twelve days but that many months seems way too long to me.

I have heard of people having glare problems after laser surgery but that was mostly only at night while driving although they said it never went away.

I would be sure to take your glasses in with you to the eye doctor and the doc should be able to test them to understand what kinds of light they filter out.

Wait your using just plain clear safety glasses for torch work?

I suspect the big concern from your Dr is going to be exposure to high levels of light with sensitive eyes and focusing on a fixed point where you may not be blinking as much as usual.

A good ophthalmologist will be able to give you an estimate on recovery in post surgery follow up, What the concern is using the torch, and how to minimize those factors.
If the Dr doesn't have experience with lampwork/hot glass He will do research and get back to you before your next follow up.
