HotHead mounting
 

Hi! I am new to lampworking and am planning on starting with a MAPP gas hothead setup. What I need to know is if it best to mount it at a 90 degree angle or a 45 degree angle. Which is easier to work with or does it matter?

I think you find that is a matter of taste.

Some folks like to work with the flame at a low angle to the bench surface and others prefer to work with the torch flame pointing up towards the 2 o'clock position.


I have even seen videos with folks working with the flame pointed to the right almost parallel to the front of the bench.


Try searching for the words "hot head attachment" or some variation of it.

The quotation marks will limit the results to all the words in the search term instead of getting massive amounts of results with only one of the words in them.

I like my torch at about a 45 degree angle for better visibility and work zone clearance.

The black PVC holder I actually fill half way with hot tap water, I sealed it with aquarium sealer so no leaks, and I can use almost half the canister before it gets too cold, then I just switch canisters and refresh the hot tap water and I can torch for quite a few hours that way.\\:D/

Great idea! Once I set everything up I did realize I was more comfortable with a slight angle on the torch.
