coring beads

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here

Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place.

I am trying to core beads with a Perlenpress bead liner, at first everything seemed to go fine and I thought I had got the hang of it, but now I find the core isn't flaring evenly, after a few turns the core goes like this \ which means when I try to tighten the core for a snug fit, one side of the core is too tight to the bead, so chips and cracks the bead, while the other side is 1 or 2 mm away from the surface of the bead.

I have studied lots of tutorials on You Tube but they just make it look easy, I need to know what I am doing wrong !

Thanks

Are you using a jig to cut your tube with a nice perpendicular edge?

the tube/core might be a smidge too long.....

I'm not familiar with that bead liner but how much extra length are you allowing on your tubing when you cut it?
