HH need tank fully open?

I usually give my propylene tank two little twists and light up my hothead.
Someone said the tank should be fully open. Why? If you have the hh turned up only so high it doesn't seem like it would make a difference what the tank is doing. Newbie logic?
Thanks in advance

I believe that the general practice and thought is that the valve on the tank seals off only once it is open fully. Also in an emergency situation if you need to turn the tank off, if the tank if open full, you can only turn it one way, so no confusion. The other thing to think of is that you are using no more fuel with it open full than open partially because the amount of fuel used is regulated by the torch.

2 reasons that I can think of right off that your tank should be full open. One technical and one for safety. I think it was Dale or one of the safety techs, who many moons ago explained the technical aspect of gas under pressure... small opening and the tank can freeze up at the valve.

And if you are caught in an emergency and that tank needs to be turned off NOW either by you are someone else for that matter, there is ONLY one way you can turn that valve and you know it is off.

Have fun
