Bracelet Question?
 

What length do you usually make your bracelets? I'm talking about the span from clasp to end ring. I know that all wrists are a little different and some people like a looser or snugger fit but I'm looking for an average that will accommodate most.

I plan to add a length of sterling chain onto the end ring for wiggle room to fit someone with a larger wrist. I normally only make focals but have recently had more success with some presses, so bracelets seem to be the next step.

Any advice on stringing/crimping materials is also appreciated. I don't want the piece to fall apart. I have SoftFlex (49 strand/.019") and Beadalon (49 strand/.018").

7-7.5" is usually what we do. But that is a very big generalization.

Also, only use sterling/gold filled crimp tubes. The base metal ones don't hold very well at all.

I do 7 1/4 inch usually....and then add a 1 1/2 inch extension chain. That gets it almost to an anklet size, great for people with big hands etc. Also some people prefere their bracelets to dangle and be loose.

I also make a 5 1/2 inch size with a 1 1/2 inch extension....so it covers up to a 7" wrist.

I have found this to be the most cost effective way of making bracelets.....I sell more this way because they are so versatile.

I always add a longish dangle at the toggle area and two small - med. dangles along the chain in 3/4 " sections so that you dont see any "Bare" spots in the design

I always make mine to fit ME! He-he. :tigger: But usually 7 1/2". Be careful, though. If your beads are thicker, your bracelets need to be a little longer to accomodate them.

Thanks to all of you for your help. It gives me a good idea of how to start with bracelets. I now have five 'good' sets of beads and plan to spend tomorrow stringing them.
