Torch Stand adjustments

At the Gathering I checked out the newest Bethlehem torches and while the torches are very nice the thing that stood out for me, the machinist, was the adjustment nuts on the torch mounting bracket. The older black 'T' nuts were a PITA. I managed to track down the nuts and bought a few. Beth wants $20 per set of 2 and Ried Supply Co. gets $3.56 each. I bought a dozen and shipping was about $5.

Nice. That's like the mark-up for boat or RV stuff. I just went to Lowe's today and bought #8-32 foot long threaded rod for my pull knob inserts. $1.09 each. A lampworking kit with 4 of those and about 10 inserts is over $20. Hell-o.

Rebecca, what was the metal of the threaded rod? I am always afraid that the stuff at Lowes will have zinc in it.

Kathy, I'm not really sure. I tried to find out. It's this- http://www.lowes.com/pd_137942-37672...ductId=3130503 but 12". It says Steel Works Hillman group Allthread Plated. So it is probably zinc plated?
I won't be putting it directly in the flame so I'm not too concerned about it.

eta- found some SS, same size but longer. Cuts easy with a small hacksaw, the little baby one with fine blades.
