Boro Day 2!
Got to sit down and play with my boro again yesterday. I was thrilled because I finally got my implosions working better - now to get the bubble out of the middle. Made another caged bead, I'm addicted to these things!
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...cagedbead2.jpg I was thrilled with how this implosion turned out! http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...eedletoper.jpg This one had lots of bubbles coming out of the base rod - what is the best way to get them out? http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...yimplosion.jpg I cut murrini from a rod of Momkas Marlee for this implosion - pretty neat looking I think. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...implosion1.jpg I'd love your comments/criticisms - what I could do better. I'm having a blast with this stuff. Carol |
i love the caged bead I gotta try that :)

The caged beads are fun, but frustrating to make. Make sure you have a bead release that lets go easily, so the center bead will come loose. I've been using KRAG mud with good luck. I'd love to see what you make.

Carol, that caged bead is wicked cool, wicked. Nice job! :fireblob:

The petals on my flower implosions used to be very unclear. So I stopped using semi-transparent colors and now only use the opaques. Then I started making my lines for the petals much thinner (I started pulling thinner stringers to make the lines that will become the petals). Now my petals come out very sharp, but I'm still having problems getting all of the petals to be real close to the same size. And the 'pull' to get the cone is giving me problems But I LOVE the multicolored petals in red, green and orange in your marble. I just made a flower using yellow crayon for the stamens, red crayon for the petals and Northstar evergreen for the green stuff under the petals - it's a dynamite combination. Caramel also works real good for petals-it gives you a faint blueish haze around the edges of the petals.
