I am completely self taught and I used this book plus the "spotlight" books to learn with. Invaluable to the newbie and not so newbie. I also got her stringer DVD.

Depends on the bead. I don't want to spend an hour making a complex bead that I can't get off the mandrel, so dead straight there. I'll use a slightly wobbly one for solid colour spacers.

I have both the EMS and the rolling marver. They are very well engineered tools that are a godsend for me. I use to get alot of pain in the wrist and shoulder from twirling that mandrel all the time....
