In looking at their website, I'm wondering if any of the varigated leaf would work well encased. Has anyone tried this? Or does the chemical treatment just burn off?

You could also probably use a section of kevlar...

You could also probably use a section of kevlar cloth which is what I have on the bottom of my annealer. It's rated to 2000(F) so as long as your rod end isn't super hot, you shouldn't have any...
