I usually say glass artist, if they want to know more I next say that it is along the same lines as glass blowing, only on a smaller scale. While not completely accurate, it is a simple explanation....

One thing you can also try is to put a medium sized blob where you want the loop to be, press it into a tiny pancake, then spot heat the center and poke a hole using a tungsten pick or something...
