I use them both for base beads. I like the rustic look of them compared to the more consistent CIM opalino-type colors (peacock, marshmallow and the like).
Slow and cool is the way to work them.

I think drawing and applying stringers are totally different skills. I draw for a living and I find it much easier to make a scroll on a bead than to draw it on paper!
Maybe that's just me :)
