Lampworked headpins

What kind of wire do you use if you want to make a headpin with glass in the shape of a leaf? And what gauge? Can it be done with silver or will the silver just melt away. Copper?

I'm new to torching but do a decent job with bead weaving (herringbone, peyote etc) do you think there would be an interest in that? Of course I would incorporate lampwork beads with it. :)

I don't know what DH was thinking when he gave me room out there.....I have ALREADY taken over the top of the chest freezer to lay out my glass. :) He better get that PVC pipe cut soon or the glass...

I am pretty happy with her, I've only been lampworking since 8/08 about 2 hours per week. :) Sorry the pictures are horrible, but you get the idea! I wish my rear looked like that.
