The fume always has a chance of rubbing off. I knew a guy that would fume heavy on the outside, and "scrap" a pattern into the fume. It usually did this with small bongs, was pretty cool.

I like Jet Black or a dark cobalt. I also like to use white to create a really pretty pink. Make sure to get a heavy gold fume if you want to use white though, it can get washed out.

Ramp it up slower. I usually ramp it up over a couple hours., never had an issue. I then let it soak once it has reached the temp before I work it.
