They make solenoid valves that open if you use a foot pedal for your torch with concentrators....

I run my scorpion on 2 five lpm cons also. I want a third but I can melt 19 mm boro easily. A 1.2 inch marble takes around an hour and a half depending on what it is.

It depends on the diameter of the rod. Sure a 4 or 5 mm rod could me done with your setup. Use graphite not a mandrel. Make sure you anneal it afterward. You will need to get it all the way...
