Regarding silver glass - it is reactive to flame chemistry, and heat/cool cycles. It will also react with sulfur colors to form a gray or muddy border.

A lot of those reactions that bullseye describes translate to 104. Most of the color families have similar components to achieve the colors. There are surprises though, because some rods just aren't what you might think.
