Not only do I rotate both ways, I also hold the mandrel in either hand too. Just another advantage to being left-handed
Seriously, though, at the beginning its key to find out what works for you. If you find that your dots are more even and well-positioned rotating one way with this hand, and general all-round heating of the bead works best while rotating the other way using that hand, then do that.
Your body will tell you what works for you. I'm not big on the whole 'you must do it this way, to do it properly' mindset to start with, as you might have noticed
