I really have no idea but since it didn't start until you attached the quick releases then I would start with that and go from there. Maybe contact the seller and see if the connects can a hum. I can't see the torches humming because of the regulator unless your gas pressure is WAY up there. That happened to me once when my regulator bit the dust. Not pretty.
Then again, I really don't know and am just spouting off some ideas.
