I realize this is kind of late to help you, but I found a simple way to make cute "totem turtles"....it is super easy:
I use my lentil press...and then I add a little "head" of glass around one of the ends of the lentil. Then I add 4 little dots for feet. Then I take my hemostats and mash the feet...this gives them little toes. Then I add dots for eyes and melt them in...well actually I do the eyes before the feet...do the feet last.
