Also, my run was quite long, as my craft shack is 80-100 feet from the house, so we bought a roll of wire because it wasn't much more than buying however many feet less by the foot.

Hmmm, I like craft shack! Yes, there is a light pole outside the house with a breaker box on it. There is a breaker box inside the house too, but the main power is on the pole. I think it's a farm thing.
You're lucky that you knew how to hook it up yourself. I have no clue.
