I did find a You Tube video from Denise Baker however, which isn't great quality in places but does shows the implosion process, at least the bit that was confusing me anyway -

I think the stamen part at the beginning of Joan's tutorial is the same as making a striped bead, isn't it? Putting dots round the rim of the disk and getting the clear wrap to spread them?
