I've had my Cheetah for years, since they first introduced them and never had it cleaned. I don't even use the wires. You really just have to learn how to adjust them so they don't build up carbon. I love the Cheetah, but can't use the Lynx for what I do. It just all depends on what you want to do with your torch. And remember, there is always an after-market for torches, so if you buy the Lynx and find it's too small for what you want to do, you can always resell it.
