You're fine. You don't put your bead in the kiln until it cools a bit anyway, or the glass would move after you put it down. My kiln is on a moveable cart behind me, and I take it out of the flame, rotate it for a little, then walk it over and put it in the kiln. If it was in another room I might think you were stretching it, but a few steps is fine.

When you take a class, there is a kiln that everyone uses, so you have to get up and go put it in the kiln.
