I don't use a hothead, but I'm planning on getting one when we move to my parents in 6 months or so.
I use Aether & Zephyr exclusively. I, too, have tried numerous clears, and the best of the best, IMHO, are these two clears from DH. I use a Carlisle Mini CC and I only buy the "Seconds" of Aether & Zephyr from DH. Crystal clear, nice melt, smaller rod diameter than your Lauscha, so perhaps it'll work nicely.
