Since it's a reduction glass there's no need to strike it. Just a few short waves threw a reduction flame will do it's magic. To keep the luster under clear glass work on the cool side. Too much heat and everything is gone.

It's also described clearly on DH's website:
To achieve the iridescent luster; pass the bead through a small, cool reduction flame. Repeat until the desired color saturation is visible. To achieve the textured satin effect; repeatedly pass the bead through the farthest reaches of a medium reduction flame, taking care to avoid getting the bead too hot.
