Surface and Reverse painting on glass: 3-Day Class

When: October 26-28, 2013
Where: Crystal Forge at the Hot Shops Art Center, Omaha NE
Cost: $475 (covers supplies below and lunch each day) plus $25 materials fee paid to Bronwen

We will be focusing on making core beads, then applying a wet enamel, capturing your own images and ideas.

Day 1: We will be creating core beads. We will also be mixing enamels and getting ev This is an intermediate class focusing on how to work with enamels and how to apply them. erything ready to ‘Paint’.

Day 2: We will be creating our own one-of-a-kind small glass paintings on flat glass. We will learn how different brushes create different effects, and how to sign you name on your work. We will be painting on our core beads with wet enamels.

Day 3: We will be lighting the torch, and rolling up our sleeves, as well as our paintings, to create beautiful pieces of wearable art. There will be a lot of hands on practice in order become comfortable with the amount of heat we need, and the new tools we will be using to make the images permanent on our bead.

Student needs to bring:
A wide selection of rod glass (104coe) including clear
Latex, nitrile or vinyl gloves to fit your hands
Dust mask (n100 or p100 are the best)
Flameworking glasses
Your torch (There is a limited number of torches supplied by
Crystal Forge--first come, first served)
Mandrels coated with bead release
All normal beadmaking, flameworking tools
Homework (Bronwen will send you a copy before the class)

Studio will supply:
Sheet glass compatible with 104coe
Fuel and kilns
Painting and misc supplies
Lunch each day

Artist will supply:
Enamels to be used in class
Oils to be used in class
All enamel specific hand tools to be used in class
*Bronwen will have enamel starter kits and enameling tool kits available for purchase
