Aye, different glass has different melting characteristics.

Transparents tend to be stiffer that opaques.

Purple has a reputation for burning out if over heated too long and some is just uncooperative as hell.

Some opaque blues can go to a cooper like smutzy brown.

Devardi glass can be very very shocky.

There are extensive threads here about different colors and some of the unexpected personalities of the glass you can run into.


Read everything you can, be careful and think through "what's the worst that can happen" as you get used to what is happening in the flame.

And play.

Play a lot.

You will be teaching you body how to do three things at once and learning how not to leave it out of the heat too very long while you admire what you have in your hands.
