Lotton Glass open house May 14,15, 2010
Here's the link to their site. I've confirmed with the office their dates for this upcoming Spring open house event.
http://www.lottonglass.com/
It's Friday, May 14th, from 10-8PM and Saturday May 15th, from 10-5PM.
I highly recommend having all the time you can to just chill, relax and watch the countless demo's going on during this weekend. It's really fascinating and their work is superb! They will have simultaneous demo's going on from paperweight making to numerous furnaces at work.
They even serve food and refreshments!
I know several of us are planning on making it this time. The only other time they do an open house is in December.

Ofilia,
Thanks for the reminder. Rich and I will be attending on Friday. Can't wait to see the fabulous glass. I saw examples of their work on Michigan Avenue. Fantastic!

Hi Linda, be sure to have plenty of time to stay and visit. They always have multiple demonstrations going on, sometimes as many as four of them working at the same time, AND they serve a nice catered pic-nic type spread for all the customers (last time I went it was turkey chile, a fancy potato salade, plenty of other stuff as well as refreshments! They really know how to take care of their clients!
If you have one of their books, bring it along, and they will autograph it for you !
Of course, they also have plenty of work for sale, as well as being a great inspiration of glass embellishing as it can relate to our smaller scale lampwork approach.

I just wanted to tell any of you, who may have thought of going to this event, and missed it, that next time it is offered, DO TRY to make it!
I went and hung out watching the various demonstrations for about five hours !! I think I got more tired, just watching them work so hard, that I had to leave, LOL, or they'd have to put me to work ! They have the friendlyiest staff and aweome tallent for all to behold and enjoy.
Surprise, surprise, even though I swore I would not purchase anything (tight funds), I did cave and bought a small squat bowl with a wide lip. The base background is solid, rich green aventurine background and some pink petals with vines, made by the cousin of Charles Lotton, Jerry Heer.
Do check them out if you ever get a chance to attend one of their open houses...... you will not regret allowing yourself the time to just chill and enjoy watching them at work.

Grr...... You know how I am with my new computer . It still is a huge challenge.... I'll take a picture of my piece in time. I didn't take a camera to the demos, but you can take pictures though! I wanted to just chill out and relax this time. Was really nice to just be there and not rush back.
