Default CIM Pink Champage

I don't have a picture because my camera is less than cool, but does anyone have any pics of beads done with Pink Champage? Out of the kiln mine look grey and not pink any ideas as to why? If you have pics please share. It looks like a very pretty rod. I have tried some beads and put them in a fiber blanket and they turn out pink just not out of the kiln. Any help would be great.

What kind of torch set-up do you have? It sounds like you may have a reduction flame, or perhaps a "sooty" flame that is causing the greying.
These are a base of CIM Desert Pink with a wrap of CIM Cranberry and the whole thing is encased in Pink Champagne. You can see the Pink Champagne around the outer edges of the beads. I've not had any troubles with color changes when I've worked with this glass

Don't know if this helps or not.

Kandice,
That is a fantastic link; thanks for the time and trouble you put into it. You made me glad I have some pink champagne in the box that's en route!

I have a Nortel Minor, propane, and a concentrator. I'll try messing with the flame a bit. Kandice, great link, thanks for doing that I love pinks too. Carol, very pretty pink beads. Maybe I'll try encasing with it and see what happens.

Thanks

Tamara

You might try lowering your kiln temp. There are a number of glasses that are very sensitive to the kiln environment and it's necessary to lower the temperature to keep them from kiln striking.

I love Pink Champagne! It's great for encasing if you want just a hint of pink.

The color is off in these photos - my camera doesn't like photographing pink and purple for some reason...

I just read on the CIM website that Pink Champ looks pink in incandescent light but grey in fluorescent light! You might want to check your bead in another lighting??
Just like Czech Tourmaline, pink or blueish grey

The batch I got looks way more like the larkspur than the pink champagne pucks they show, indoors and out. Does it look that way in the rod form and then work up to pink?

It looks in the rod to be pink. Not light pink like the Effetre Rose Quartz, but darker than that. The Larkspur looks lavender.

I just got my reply to the email I sent to Frantz about that. They noticed it and asked the company, and were assured the larkspur and pink champagne were two different colors. Doesn't address whether the pink champagne and pink champagne are two different colors, which I'm very disappointed in. Not Frantz's fault, but at $39/pound I start getting a little testy about these things. I wanted pink, not lavender.

This batch of kryptonite is also noticeably greener than the last batch, and I preferred the previous color.

I guess CiM's "unique" designation isn't foolproof. I really think Bullseye has cornered the market on consistency.

I got a really nice email back from CiM today. They're receptive to feedback, and trying to find a balance of not using the "unique" designation so freely that people feel they've gotten something too close to regular, yet managing batch variations.

I haven't even melted this stuff yet, so maybe it'll work out once I give it a shot. I'll keep you posted.
