Default eye protection

so i just wanted to try boro and was wondering if i can use my soft glass goggles for making small beads or if i should use a welders shield
my hubbie brought home a welders goggle from work but man it is almost black how do you see through that and i just want to try boro not commit to it
i bought some tube for making swizzle stix and few color rods and clear so i wouldn't be spending alot of time forming it i don't think ?
opinions please ?

You can use welding glasses in shade 3 or 5 to try boro--yes, they seem dark compared to your soft glass goggles, but they are needed to protect your eyes from the more intense infrared from the boro. You just need to add more lighting. I have 2 halogen lamps, 100 watts each, clamped to my ventilation hood on both sides of my torch. They're aimed at the spot where I work in the flame, and I can clearly see what I'm doing even wearing my Shade 5 boro glasses.

You should be OK with Didy's for smaller stuff and clear - at least in the short term. Color can get pretty bright though, so be mindful. If you get hooked on boro, I suggest you invest in a pair of proper boro glasses - but for now just play.

LOL, Shade 11 would be a problem! Shade 3 worn with your Didys will protect your eyes as well as cut the glare so you can see well. Have fun with the boro!
